Food Waste

Food waste refers to food that must be thrown away following the process of food or food material production, distribution, processing, cooking, storage, consumption, etc.

Volume-Based Waste Fee (VBWF) for Food Waste

According to the volume-based waste fee system for food waste, fees are charged based on the amount (volume) of food waste thrown out. That is, if you discard a lot of food waste, you’ll need to pay a higher fee, and if you discard a small amount of food waste, you’ll pay relatively less. By reducing your food waste, you can help protect the environment and conserve resources.

VBWF Method

  • Use VBWF bags: Purchase VBWF bags for food waste at a designated location to throw away food waste.
  • Use VBWF bins: Food waste is weighed and disposed of at a designated location (where the VBWF bins are installed) (charges are imposed on each housing unit or apartment complex)

Distinguish them by color!

※ You can purchase VBWF bags at the designated sale locations such as a mart, convenience store, etc. For more information on where you can buy them, check with the waste collection service provider for your dong. (Note: You can only use the bags designated for your region. Do not use the bags purchased from other regions.)
